Indigestion in a child of 8

My eight year old neice has recently started saying her heart hurts.  After awhile her pain subsides.  However, last night after saying her heart hurt, she vomited and then said she felt better?  Is this indigestion or something else?  Is indigestion normal for an eight year old?

Samerino,

Thanks for the post. I should preface this by saying I haven't taken care of a patient under 18 in almost 7 years.  It is very rare for someone that age to experience pain from their heart.  If this is a recurrent problem, I would schedule her to see her pediatrician.  The pediatrician is more qualified to discuss indigestions and chest pain related issues in a pediatric population.

I hope this answer some of your question.  The key is for her to see a pediatrician.  They have much more experience than I do in this situation.

Thanks for posting.

I would sure take her for a Dr. visit to get some things ruled out. She could have acid reflux which can cause sternum area pains and vomitting. If she does then the sooner treatment is started the better. I would try limiting her intake of high acid foods and drinks ( tomato products, citrus fruits, fried fatty foods, carbonated beverages, mints, spices, etc.)  for awhile and see if she improves. She needs a Dr. visit.

Hi there, I hope you have been well? I will be sending an email to you very soon. My PC was in the shop for about 10 days and I have been having some problems health wise that have kept me off the internet for awhile. The good news is my PC seems to be working much better now. We had it upgraded. Will be in touch very soon.
