Breathlessness

My father had a stent fitted about three years ago.  He is now experiencing breathlessness on exertion, although has no pain.  Should he go and get this checked out or am I worrying unneccessarily.

He says on climbing a flight of stairs he is a somewhat breathless on reaching the top.  He is 82 years old.

I work as a Medical Secretary for a GP Surgery in England so perhaps I am being a little over cautious.

The first symptom I had with my blockages was being short of breath. I still waited until I had chest pain and dizziness (3 months) before going to the ER. (I had never had any cardiac problems before then, just PVD). By the time I got in to see a cardiologist my right coronary artery was 90% blocked and I could have had a heart attack if I had waited any longer.  My heart attacks didn't happen until I had stents put in. I still think the stents have caused the heart attacks, becuase there wasn't anymre damage with these attack, but who really knows. But that's another topic. LOL  I hope he sees his doc soon. Good luck to him.

Breathlessness after climbing one flight of stairs is definitely a symptom of heart failure, as Vienna reported, and also it is a strong symptom of a clot.  Breathlessness comes on fast with clots, I know from experience.  Time for a doctor visit... now.
