I fasted 10 hours before my lipid panel which was: Triglycerides 228, Cholestrol 161, HDL 35, VLDL 46, LDL 80. Apolipoprotein B 93. If high triglycerides (228) lowered my LDL(which is good), did they also lower my HDL(which is bad) and by how much? What should apo B vs LDL? If LDL less than 100 is desirable, what should Apo B be.Thank you.Benny
Triglycerides are one component of a lipid profile, in addition to good and bad cholesterol measurements. Part of these levels are determined by inherited factors - you cannot do anything about that part. Diet is the other major contributor. A low fat diet is useful to lower both triglycerides and the bad type of cholesterol.
