Calcification on mitral valve treatments

I've googled calcification on mitral valve treatments, but everything that comes up is really confusing. I was just wondering what exactly it is, and if there are any treatments for it (besides surgery, but I'd still like to know about the surgeries too).
Thank you!

On the cat scan I had recently there were aortic annulus calcifications, multiple punctuate liver calcifications which are likely granulomas from prior healed infection and I take calcium with vitamin D.    Should I be taking calcium vitamins?

A healthy valve permits blood flow in one direction with each heartbeat. Stenosis is narrowing of the valve opening and a severely narrowed opening will restrict the amount of blood pumped with each stroke.  This condition places a stress on the heart that will/may cause heart failure, etc.

Replacing or repairing the valve are the only options when there are symptoms and/or the condition is severe.  Preventive measures such as proper diet, life style modertion, not smoking, control blood pressure, etc. is all one can do.
