Calcium channel blocker alternatives

I would like to know if there are some good alternatives to calcium channel blockers.

Brief background - MI in 1998 followed by stent placement.  Multiple hospitalizations since for angina.  Had three more stents placed (RCA, LAD, circumflex).  Rotoblator procedure done.  Bypass (5 grafts) done 1/09.  Two grafts failed and another stent place in bypassed RCA 7/09.  Was switched from lisinopril to amlodipine. Began Plavix. Was told that I had so many blockages/narrowings that additional surgical intervention would be fruitless.  Had multiple brief blackout spells at 5 mg dosage.  Reduced dosage to 2.5 mg, still having significant issues with light-headedness and angina.  Reluctant to drive.

I cannot tolerate beta blockers (metoprolol among others) due to similar problems with fainting and falling.  I could tolerate lisinopril OK - still some postural hypotension but I can live with it.

Since beta blockers seem to be out and amlodopine's side effects are almost intolerable, I'm looking for alternatives.  Perhaps back to ace inhibitors again?

Has your doctor suggested a pacemaker?  I fought the idea of one for a long time, but finally gave in because of fainting issues.  The pacemaker has allowed the doctor to medicate me without fear of me passing out, it was the best decision I have very made.  The beta blockers are improving my heart health and the pacer allows this to happen.

Great picture!
