Can anyone explain their SVT or PVC to the rest of us?

I am told that I have SVT and the usual PVC PAC combo, but I am not convinced.  I feel like I am suffocated sometimes and get very weak.  I would love to hear other peoples descriptions of how it feels exactly and how their symptoms come on.

Mine come out of nowhere, and I get very faint, and feel as though I can not breath.  I get the sinking feeling, and then my heart feels as though it is not even beating, or in a flutter. I almost feel as though I am paused, and I get very lightheaded.  Throughout, I feel like I have to somehow get 'on top' of it, if that makes any sense, to breath.  Then my heart races and I get very shaky and weak.
Does anyone else feel this, and do you have the same diagnosis?

Descriptions of syptoms might help others too!
Thanks so much

I have severe anxiety over my PVC's and tachcardia.  A holter caught short runs of Vtach and now I live in fear every day.  I get between 10 - 100 skipped hard beats every day and they scare the living daylights out of me.  I am a 45 year old female, healthy in every other way except these darn things.  Mine also come out of nowhere.  I can be sitting down having a conversation, typing, walking and for no reason I feel it skipping and beat irregularly.  I live in constant fear of these things and let them control me.  I take 10mg of Celexa to try to help me stop thinking about these things but I just can't!  I ask everyone I know if they feel their heart beating funny and everyone says no!  I know they say that everyone has them but I somehow doubt it.  I also feel weak and lightheaded when I get them, especially when I get one after another.

Hi Girls, I have just been diagnosed this last month with SVT.  I've always had pac's and pvc's, for six years now.  I hate them and am always scared of them.  I also have a history of really bad anxiety, and this year, started getting my panic attacks again.  When I get them, my heart starts racing amd skips, and it scares the **** out of me, and then I have a hard time getting myself out of it.  Also, when I get real hot, or exercise hard, my heart will race, then start the skipping.  So I went to the Dr. a few months ago and told her I was having anxiety attacks again, and it scares me bad when I have them because of my heart symptoms, and she finally did a holter.  On the holter it showed two brief episodes of svt.  She just put me on Inderal 20mg 3times a day last Tuesday.  I am having a very hard time adjusting to this medication.  It makes me dizzy, tired, sick to my stomach, insomnia, despite the tired, zoned out, and sluggish.  I'm just a very sensitive person, so I overreact to every med.  She also put me on Xanax, to help with the panic for awhile, but eventually wants me on an SSRI, but I don't think it's helping except making the dizzy and tired thing WAY worse.  I too am super scared, and now I don't want to leave my house in fear of an episode.
What diagnosed you guys, and what other tests have you done?  Do you have a normal heart rate otherwise?  Since all this, I am constantly checking my pulse, and it is always in the high 90's and 100's (before the Inderal that is) so now I"m in sinus tachycardia too.  What have your Dr.'s recommended?  When I first found out the holter results, my Dr. was talking going to a Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist and getting an EP study done and ablation, scared the hell out of me, since then she said we should try medication before going that drastic.  I'd love to hear what your doing for this.  Take Care, Michelle

I have no history of anxiety problems, and have never had a panic attack.  So for me I am not sure what is bringing it on.  As I said in the original post, I am not convinced of what they are.  They have caught my heart out of rythym for as long as 1 1/2 minutes and I get very faint.  They explained that my heart races afterward because when my heart is not in rythym, it is filling with blood, and then when it starts beating regularly again, it has to pump that blood out.  I get very weak for about 15 minutes after the episode.  I believe what I have AFTERWARD is an SVT, but I am not sure they are explaining what brings it on, or what that irregular flutter is.  I almost have no heart beat at all at the time.  Just what feels like a vibration in my heart.
Anyone else have any thoughts?
Thanks

Did they catch that on a holter report?  What other tests have they done for you?  Are you seeing an Electrophysiologist?  The Electrophysiologists office told me that absolutely nothing can bring these SVT episodes on, that there doesn't have to be a reason, but I understand what your saying about the fluttering, did that happen when the report caught your SVT?  If it hasn't, maybe have them do a stress test or a 30day event monitor to catch it.  Are you getting them often?  Do you take any medication for it?  Take Care, Michelle

You all have no idea how much I treasure this forum.  I've had all the heartbeat problems you all have had since 1975, had all the fear and anxiety, but I don't have any medical insurance, I am severely overweight, which is hard on my heart and I know it, am in my mid-50's, and have been to many doctors in the past about this.  It NEVER happens in a doctor's office because I'm safe, it's a refuge and I can get help there, so of course it is as steady and regular as a clock.  And a doctor visit and some reassurance keeps them at bay for a few weeks, but then I will start getting them again and the fear builds up and they ebb and flow, no pattern, and eventually I would have to make an appt and go in for more reassurance.  At the moment finances and no med ins keep me from going in, but this forum has been even better.  To know of people who deal with this, and worse, and the descriptions are exactly what I get, and the fact that we are still alive to even BE on this forum, is wonderful.   I've been lurking here for a while, but I just had to jump in today and thank all of you for being here.  Laurel

i am 24. i was 17 when i had my first svt attack. they were never slow. i am talking over 200 beats per a minute. i could always feel my heart beating. when it happened you could see my heart literally beating thru my chest.

when it was sustained like that for more than 15 minutes, my limbs ( arms and legs would go numb and begin to curl under.
this is due to the lack of blood and oxygen that the rest of your body doesnt get beacuse its pumping so fast.
i would get very lightheaded. really hot. then after the attack i would be freezing cold. i felt starving hungry and that i had not drank anything for weeks.

]needless to say meds did not help and the attacks came more often. when i was 19 i had the ablation done.

now i have tacycardia and am back on atenolol.

i hated the svt attacks they are very scary. some people can pass out from them, i never did.

****************************************************************
here are some things that the dr's told me that you can do to try and knock your heart out of the svt rythm.
that is to " bear" down like you are trying to pass a bowel movement. sometimes do it a couple of times.

they also told me that you can stick you face in a sink of ice cold water. i would actually put ice cubes in my sink and dunk my whole head.
this shocks your body which affects your heart rythm also. this can shock it out of svt.

sounds silly but at times it worked for me.

now i am at this point of having these pounding beats that i thought were pac's but the dr's said no. its jsut my tachycardia. i think they feel funny from the ablation.
thye said that it would beat fast still at times but never like it did before.

Hi

I'm so confused with my SVT, I'm 24 male,uk...I first had an attack when I was 18 playing football..my heart started beating really fast..I went home told my parents and they said youve probably over exerted your self, anyway it went on its own, I hadnt had any uptill last summer when it went..it was racing at 220 beats per min, I had to go to hospital and get this slowed down, then I had another one xmas eve at 240 bpm, Ive seen a specialist and been told I have a short circuit somwhere in the insulation part of my heart :3  and may need ablation, he's put me on flecanide 100mg morning and night, I have no side affects and now my heart dosnt miss beats but it still happened xmas eve despite being on this med, also my resting heart rate is 106bpm, I don't know if im anxios atall but It's supose to be between 60-80 right? All my gp said was the fitter you get the lower it will rest, surely thats not right..it really scares me and I can't sleep very well, when mine goes it feels like its fluterin and not beating properly like someone in the forum above said but it's actualy going very fast at over 200..arrr what should I do can any one help..I don'tt know how this forum works but my email addi is    ***@****
