Chest Pain

Hi,

I am having the chest pain for 3 or more years already. It started with panic attacks due to anxiety. I have been to the doctor three years ago. They did x-rays and I spent 3 days in the hospital doing some blood tests. They told me that my heart was fine and it was my anxiety. Since then I could manage my panic attacks myself and I have not have them for a long time, but I think I am still anxious quite frequently. I am having the chest pain quite often once per two or three weeks for several hours and it goes after I have good sleep. During this time I thought it was due to my anxiety and I did not go to a doctor. Today my annual blood test showed that my GPT and GOT levels are slightly elevated. I am not really a drinker and I cannot connect this with the liver. Then I read that this can also be connected with heart failure. I am worried if this is connected with my chest pains and if I have some heart diseases.
I don't want to go a doctor to find out that my chest pains are due to my anxiety again.

Thanks in advance
David

Your symptoms are consistant with costochondritis. It is an inflammation of the cartilage that joins the ribs to the chest bone. It is this inflammation that causes the sharp chest pains inside the chest wall.

If you have costochondiritis, you will be able to feel pain upon movement of your upper torso or when you touch your ribs. Most commonly, pain is felt on the LEFT SIDE of your chest, though chest pains on the right side, or even on both sides, can occur.

If your chest pains are making it difficult for you to complete your work, get a good night’s sleep, or even breathe deeply, it is important to visit with your health care provider. Chest pain in fibromyalgia is usually nothing to worry about, but occasionally it can indicate other problems.
