Cholesterol Question

Hello.  I hope you all can help me with my question.

I am a 32 year old African American woman, and my question is about my cholesterol levels.  My HDL is 48, LDL is 118 and my triglycerides are at 64.  Is this a good panel?  How do I calculate my total cholesterol?  I don't have a history of heart disease in my family, but high blood pressure and diabetes run rampant.  Many people in my family have died from diabetic complications.  My father is a non-insulin dependent diabetic, with high blood pressure.  My mother is 67 and has no health problems.  My grand parents lived with diabetes and high blood pressure and died in their early to mid 80's.  I just want to understand my risk.  I am about 50 lbs over weight and I am currently working on it.  I do yoga 3 days a weeks and I do cardio twice a week for 45 minutes.  Thanks for any advice you all may have.

Please take a look at DRFUHRMAN.COM. I did after praying to Jesus for help. I have high blood pressure , high cholesterol. and heart disease, treated in july 2006 with a stent. good news is my blood pressure and cholesterol have come down so much that the $4500 I started off paying for meds is now $200 per year. I am only on trace meds for my condition. My cholesterol is now total 142 ldl=71, hdl=59, trigly=68.my blood pressure is under this morning was 114/64, which is normal for me these days.
I read dr fuhmans book "EAT TO LIVE" which is where I received the life style changes I needed to save my life. I am no Dr but I believe your ldl is way to high and your hld is a bit low ,for one with diabetes, which is a big risk factor for heart disease.
Best you see a Doctor( Cardio Doctor) that can really help answer your questions , and read Dr Fuhrmans book .It saved my life.
