Thank you for answering and for the info on the additional benefits of Simivastin. He has continued with the meds and is working on eating a healthy diet.
Thnk you for taking the time to answer. It is his total reading that is just under 100. He has continued with the 5mg as prescribed.
Because of your husband’s history of coronary artery disease, it might be advisable for him to continue with the Simvastatin. Drugs like Simvastatin reduce cholesterol levels but are also thought to have extra beneficial effects – for example reducing inflammation and improving the way the lining of the heart blood vessels work. Your husband’s doctor will continue to monitor his cholesterol levels. It will also be important for your husband to adhere a heart healthy lifestyle which includes trying to achieve a healthy body weight, adhering to a low fat diet and getting regular aerobic exercise as best able.
Is his total cholesterol under 100 or just his LDL? An LDL under 70 is recommended for indivduals with know CAD.
