Thanks, everybody, for your comments. They helped me a lot. My heart rate dropped from 76 to 53 over the course of three or four days. I will see a cardiologist this next week.

I've been sent home with a heart rate lower than 30. It was a stable rhythm over several days, and I was on beta blockers. I was worried, but they didn't seem to be bothered. It is important however that the stroke volume of the heart is sufficient to keep your blood pressure up. That would be a totally different story.
A rate in the 30's range while the patient was awake could be dangerous because rates that are that low can cause the heart to stop beating.
