Different tests to detect CAD?

Had an adenosine nuclear stress test.  Showed decreased tracer concentration on front wall.  I asked Doc how bad it was.  He said that you cant tell extent or severity from this test because it doesnt show quantitative results, thus I'm having a cath as soon as my excisional breast biopsy is done next week.  But I was reading that Quantitative perfusion SPECT images can indicate mild, moderate or severe results.  Is this a different test?  And if so, how come I didnt just have that test?  I am concerned over waiting for cath.  I had some chest pain upon exercise, (more than usual), so that is why stress test done before my biopsy could be done.  Does anybody know about these tests for CAD.  I am embarassed to call Dr again.  Every time I learn a little more, I have more questions.  It would be great to get some feedback from this forum.  I'm sure I will be bugging my Doc some more.  He is really patient and so nice. He programmed his cell into my cell phone, but I should get as much info as I can before I can speak intelligently to him.   Thanks for reading.

IVUS does provide a view for soft plaque.  I don't know of any reliable information to remove soft plaque although there are commercial ads that claim their product is effective for removing plaque?!

Thank you!  So, if I am off to have a cath and possible stent based on the results of the adenosine stress images, I still may not be out of the woods.  I read about Intra Vascular Ultrasound that can be used during a cath to look for soft plaque.  What can be done to get rid of the soft plaque if found?

A CT scan 64-slice angiograph images the complete anatomy of the vessels, etc.  Segments are scored for calcium (soft plaque between inner and outer lining) as well as the lumen (vessel cavity) that is evaluated with the stress test.  Images at different angles of the vessel are taken and with the equipment software the images are compiled into a 3-D format.

The degree of soft plaque is quantified within the 4 major ateries and given a nurmerical score that the medical profession evaluates.  Soft plaque puts an individual at a high risk for a heart attack as most heart attacks associated with CAD are due to soft plaque breaking through the inner lining and causing a clot.  Stress test's perfusion test evaluates the degree of blockage, if any, of the vessel's lumen.
