Drinking Red Wine-Reduce Cholestrol level

Hi Dr,
Having a glass of RED wine,reduce cholestrol level and does it prevent heart attacks.

Yes, but Resveratrol utilizes cytochrome p450 to metabolize, competing with statins.

So if somebody is on statins should be very careful before taking it.

Red wine, contains  antioxidants that may help prevent heart disease by increasing levels of "good" cholesterol or HDL, and protecting against artery damage. Remember,  too much alcohol can have many harmful effects on your body.

Resveratrol is most likely the key ingredient in red wine that helps prevent damage to blood vessels, reduces "bad" cholesterol and prevents blood clots.
