I'm not sure of an answer for your question as it relates to Lupus but a Calcium Score is:
0 No evidence of CAD
1-10 Minimal evidence of CAD
11-100 Mild evidence of CAD
101-400 Moderate evidence of CAD
Over 400 Extensive evidence of CAD A build-up of fat and other substances on the inner wall of a blood vessel. In time, plaque may build up and limit blood flow through the vessel.
There is a connection of calcium (mineral), lupus, and body mineral density (BMD). The CAD score does not involve calcium as a mineral in a blood test. The calcium score is a recognition of a process of calcifying lipids and other substances within the vessels wall and referred to as soft plaque that can cause vessel stenosis (narrowing).
You have some soft plaque build up and your doctor may advise some diet changes and/or medication to reduce cholesterol, etc. Usually, the first procedure is to reduce lipid levels with the appropriate diet, and if unsuccessful then with medication.
Hope this helps, if not, feel free to ask for more information.
