Echo Stress Test

My wife is 65 years old who has an accute white coat snydrom bad.  She has stage 2 hypertension and when she gets near a physician or any hospital setting her blood pressure shoots off the roof.  She is scheduled for an Echo Stress Test however I am relucted to send her until we can get her blood pressure under control.  She had an EKG had it indicated a slight variance and we went to the cardiologist and he checked her out and he stated if it weren't for the fact her family history indicated heart disease he wouldn't schedule a test.  I want her to eventually get this done but I feel we need to deal with the blood pressure issue first.  She is not on any blood pressure medication due to having an alchol addition.  She is presently trying to slowing dropping her intate but it's a work in progress.  Any suggestions on how to handle the blood pressure problem ?   Thanks

When they do a stress test, they monitor the patient continually, blood pressure included, so the likelihood of anything going wrong is very slim. I would get the test done soon, to get it out the way, then your wife doesn't have to keep thinking about it and worry more.
You should be able to accompany her, and sit next to the bed during the procedure. I did this for my wife a few months back and cracking silly jokes during the procedure helps to lighten them up. She sounds very anxious about the test and this is probably giving a lot of input to the high blood pressure problems.
