This is typically read by an experienced cardiologist who analyzes the images obtained by an echocardiography technician. When reading an echo we focus on each chamber of the heart assessing its function and dimensions, we also focus on each of the four valves looking for any inefficiencies or obstructions. We then assess the pericardium and the proximal aorta.
Ultrasound provides an image of the area disignated by the transducer moved and operated by the tech. The equipment software analyzes the images and provides calculations of heart wall dimensions, chamber dimensions, heart wall movement is analyzed and the doppler software images blood flow.
