Egads! hs-crp 6.61

Just had some follow up blood work 5 months after a high LDL reading of 140 which was a spike from a year ago.  No change in diet or exercise.  This time around the levels were a little lower but had a spike in hs-CRP test (see below).  I'm a 4o y/o male, active runner (4-5 days a week with marathons), non-smoker, 180 pounds.  Great blood pressure. (can't recall #s).  I eat relatively well.  No fast food...

I was rescheduled for another test in 4 months.  I'm not expecting a diagnosis here but my question is, should I see a specialist ASAP? What level is scary where you see a specialist asap?  Should I stop running while I wait for my next test which works against bringing down my levels?

Thanks for the reply.  I figure I'll cut down on meat.  I don't eat beef or pork too often.  Maybe once a week or less but I can cut down on pizza and change my ratio of vegetables/meat a bit more.

I think my big concern is that CRP level.  I'm just not sure how much to worry about it. Should I just work on my diet and exercise for 4 months until I get re-tested or go to a cardiologist.  Worried about running if I do have a problem with my heart.

The LDL is high, but you could bring that down if you are a meat eater.  If you do eat meat, try cutting down or eliminating beef and your LDL should drop.  Mine dropped from 126 to 100 and then I gave up pork and it dropped to 79.  I am now eating pork again, but have not had red meat for 13 years.
