Hi there, not sure really where to begin. I'm writing in regards to my husband. Here's a few basic things: he's 48, diabetic (a1c test is 10) has gastroparsis, cardiomyoptathy, had scarlet fever untreated as a boy - doc said valves are ok, bitten by a lace water monitor with a gram neg. bacteria serveral years ago - treated but think there are residual effects myself and a smoker of 2 packs a day. Yes - he really needs to stop smoking. Today we learned that his heart is slightly enlarged on the left side. *He had a bad wreck in 92 that broke 2 ribs (in heart area - lower left area of heart and alot of scar tissue from torn cartiledge that echo had problems clearly seeing everything with the heart and also has this constant pain in the rt. side of his head above eye - had ct scan but revealed nothing. *Doc said could be harding of the arteries but that wouldnt show in ct. Anyway - in short my concern is his heart - with everything else and yet the doc says nothing to worry about right now.... shouldnt we be tho? Given his other medical issues? And what can this lead to and how quickly? What can be done to reverse the enlargement - or can it? Thank you for any insight. Just trying to find all the info I can in what we can possibly expect and to head off with reversing anything - other then the obivious of giving his sugars under control. (Diabeties found in 2000 while getting blood work for back surgery for a crushed disc that "blew inward onto the spinal cord") . Again, thanks for any info.
