Finally it's supraventricular tachycardia + panic attack...

Well, finally I know what happen with me!

Yesterday, like all the others morning since 2 weeks, I wake up with tachycardia, it was between 130-160...

I had to return to the hospital for the blood pressure monitor I wear for 24 hours, We had a snow storm and I hate being a passenger in a car when we can't see nothing in front of the car, so I was already in a tachycardia state before I enter in the car, and when the car stop moving I start feeling very weak... at the same time, the blood pressure machine start and to my big surprise my blood pressure was 123/113 with a pulse rate of 241 !!! Remember that I get up at 7 AM and we get out of the house around noon and my heart beat was all that time at 130-160...

So technically, I was already in a superventricular tachycardia state BUT I had a panic attack at the same time, the panic increase my blood pressure and pulse rate from 160 when I enter in the car to 241 and maybe more cause the blood pressure monitor dont give an exact result of the pulse rate...

I had to told my mom to stop the car and I open the door and just put my head between my knees, I took some deep breath and stay like thise for 5 minutes, at some point I had extreme chest pain and was a lot dizzy and I was sick and throw up... I close the door of the car and told my mom to drive faster to be in the hospital really soon cause I wasn't feeling great... I don't even remember the roads she take, I think I probably just faint for a little while , like it happen in the past, and I only remember that she told me to get out of the car when we was in front ot the hospital...

I enter in the hospital and take all my courage and walk for 5 minutes and finally reach the cardiac departement of the hospital... When the nurse remove the blood pressure monitoring machine, I told her that I had tachycardia all the morning and just had a very strong episode of tachycardia in the car... she took my pulse rate and it was around 180... my blood pressure was very high as well, around 130/110...  She ask me to lay down and she do a ECG and ask me to go to the emergency with my ECG...

That's what I do... 5 minutes later another nurse ask me to remove my clothes and put the hospital gown and to lay down on the stretcher. Strangely, my pulse rate was down to 90...  They plug the monitor machine for my vital signs, took some blood, I had a X-Ray of my chest and my lungs... and the Doc at the emergency give the results 2 hours later... All the cardiac markers in my blood was ok, my lungs and my chest X-Ray are normal... The ECG was also normal with only superventricular tachycardia and no ventricular problem, so he told me that I have superventricular tachycardia and say it's not dangerous...

He RX a Holter monitor test of 24 hours, I have my appointment next week...and the Doc want that I do all the things I can't do normally (taking my shower, exercises, drive my car... all the stuff who give me a very fast pulse rate) when I will have the holter monitor on me... and he will send the results to my Cardiologist + the results from the blood pressure machine I wear for 24 hours... He say that my Cardiologist will be able to find the right med for me to treat that... The Doc at the emergency told me that the Acebutolot was not a good choice for superventricular tachycardia and that some other beta-blockers are better to reduce the pulse rate...

So that's the story... The chest pain is linked to the very fast pulse rate, the skipped heart beat and the slower heart beat I have in the evening are probably related to the fact that my heart go so fast at daytime that he need to take a break...

Anyway... thanks everyone for your support... will hope that today I will be able to feel calm and relax at home cause i'm alone for all the day....I hate being alone at home when I have some heart problems...

Hi ;-) Thanks for your answer!!!

Well, I just had a phone call from the hospital for my appointment for the holter monitor and guess what??? It will not be before the 25 february!!! I'm so anxious now...

I'm more anxious since I know that my heart beat can reach the 246 BPM and fear to have another episode of that superventricular tachycardia, even if they told me it was not dangerous... it's like my brain don't want to  understand that and I can't stop thinking about my heart and monitoring my pulse rate and my blood pressure at home, who increase my anxiety  and trigger panic and more chest pain...

Since that very fast pulse rate, my heart beat is now all the time at 150 and more, no more break like in the past... and nothing work to decrease it, even deep breathing, relaxing, music... also my head hurt a lot, always on the left side, it's like my veins on the left temple of my head are bigger and I feel my heart beat and it's hurt like a migraine...

Being alone at home for me WAS already very hard before that event... yesterday I was alone all day and I was so terrified that I stay sit on the couch and don't move to prevent any increasement of my pulse rate above 160... Maybe I put too much pressure on my vein on my neck when I take my pulse rate and it's why i'm having that weird headache with pulsating veins on the left side? ( I always take my pulse rate on the left vein of my neck)...

I don't understand why the Doc at the emergency don't write on the RX for the holter that it was an emergency case!!!! I feel very frustrated and don't know if I will survive in that state for 3 weeks...  I can't eat a lot cause I feel bad, I lost another 5 pounds in 2 days....  I can't even take my shower or just go in my bedroom cause it's in the basement and I fear to have a heart attack when i'm alone at home and that nobody will be able to help me!!!

I'm scare...

What to do for the next 3 weeks to calm down? I have some Inderall pills and some Acebutolol, do you think they will help me to reduce the tachycardia without affecting too much my blood pressure?

Next week I have 2 appointments, one with my Therapist and another one to stop smoking, I still don'T know how I will be able to go there by car, just the idea to be sit in the car bring in my memories the very fast pulse rate I experience 2 days ago and how bad I felt when it happen!!!

Seriously, I feel very bad and anxious...

Hi again!:)
I am glad to hear from you! Hope you had a good day! Do not worry that much. You will be just fine, even if alone at home!! You always can log in here and then you will feel that board here can be your VIRTUAL hospital. :) I do not come here very often, but many people are here. Somebody always here. Believe me that feeling we are alone is only in our head!
We are never alone!!:) Get your favorite music on if you feel so. It used to help me!!
Oh and yes deep breath that was a smart thing to do!! I often do that. Yoga breathing regularly, but also randomly: if IT feels the negativity around me. You know it is all about getting good vibes and good energy, we can control that! Let in only that is nice and pleasant!

So  tachycardia , it is good they had seen this time!  You at least can be more relaxed, and you even will be more relaxed if you will be on Holter next week.

Hope no more snow tonight. :) We had here in Ontario a lot too, but I don’t mind, until the Sun shines as it did today.:) The Sun has the most wonderful healing energy.

Take care!
V.
