I have a few things to add here as well.
Ibuprofen is a drug first designed for muscle cramping. If your pain goes away iusuing that, this is NOT your heart.
Athletes who die suddenly on the courts playing basketball or some other sport have beeen found at autopsy to have some form of cardiomyopathy; almost ALL of them died as a result of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopthy where the heart chambers are small and the walls are too thick; they are having "silent heart attacks" all of the time because the blood supply becomes outstreched by the thick walls. The muscle, lacking the blood supply becomes aggrevated and lethal arrythmias are the result causing death. If you had any of these problems, you WOULD know it and so would everyone else around you, including any ER doctor.
Heart related chest pain is never sharp, it is a dull, aching, sometimes chrushing type of pain. Sharp pain is generally due to muscle or cartiledge issues. If Motrin helps, this is probably the problem.
Anxiety can make things like this a thousand times worse so learn do deal with your mind issues and get help for that. You are living during one of the best times of your life; don't throw this away, it happens too often to the young who truely suffer as a result of severe forms of heart disease; they don't have a life.
hey jed, if the pain goes away with ibuprofen that should tell you its not your heart. its stress and sad your doing it to your self. try and relax. all your test say your good. try to belive what the doctors are telling you .
get your mind on something besides your heart, i know its not easy but you really need to.. hope your better tonight
Also forgot to add pain subsides when I take ibuprofen, which I don't know if that's normal or indicative of something.
I'm just posting another update to my insanity. I'm thinking of getting a cardiac CT scan, some of my doctors don't think I need it because it will just feed my anxiety. I bumped up my Prozac to 60mg in the hope it will help (has in the past). I'm still feeling pain mostly stabbing type pain in my sternum (about a 3 on the pain scale) and pain in my left arm occasionally towards the shoulder and some back pain associated with it all. Doctors think my muscles are super tense and that's what's causing it.
I'm a mess right now, I feel like if I go back to the hospital it will just feed the anxiety and after a clean ekg (2 days ago) ,clean stress, clean echo, clean multiple EKGs months ago, clean bloodwork, no high cholesterol I should be fine just my brain is tricking me into thinking I'm not.
Went to a doctor yesterday and he performed another EKG and listened to all my heart sounds and said the EKG is exactly what it was like 3 months back and the heart sounds normal. I had the pain when they took the EKG but I still have it intermittent sharp pain and dull achy. Can someone help me understand what is going on?
