Growth on Aortic Valve

I have been having strange weakness come over me that leaves my arms and legs feeling tingly or numbish. Blood pressure will bottom out and then be high later.  I get palpitations when this happens. They just discovered a growth of some kind on my aoritc valve. They are doing another test to examine this further in a week. I had an ultrasound done maybe 8 years ago and this was not present. This ultra sound shows it. Since that time I was put on paxil and zoloft afterward. Could these have caused my growth on my valve???? This is frightening to me. I was fine before this and had the first ultra sound years back done only because I had a heart murmer as a child.

I do not think either the Paxil or Zoloft caused the growth on your aortic valve but most likely has grown in the past 8 years since your previous echocardiogram or there is always a chance that if it was very small it was missed at that echocardiogram you had years back.  My guess is that it is a benign growth and there are things called Lambl's Excrescences which are small growths on the aortic valve which are normal and seen in a small percentage of the population which are normal.  There are also benign masses called fibroelastomas, however these are more commonly seen on the mitral valve.

I also, do not necessarily think that your feelings of weakness in the arms and legs with your blood pressure dropping out is related to the aortic valve growth either, but may just be a coincidence, unless the growth is causing a problem with your aortic valve such as aortic regurgitation (leakiness) or aortic stenosis (narrowing).  Have they checked you for something called orthostatic hypotension where the blood pressure can change in different positions such as going from lying to standing.  This may be something to look into and this can cause palpitations also.

Hope this all helps.

Thank you so much for replying. I have been worried. Yes, I am getting suspicious it has something to do with pressure changes as I woke up this morning and just sitting up a bit in bed made me get dizzy and my arms felt prickly. I drank some gatoraid that was by my bed and got scared cuz i was seeing yellow then it started to ease up. My pressure was 90-52 at that time. I am really tired alot but bp is okay right now.
