Heart Attack/Anxiety

My heart was racing and it didn't stop for a while so I went to the ER.  The staff ran numerous bllod tests on me and gave me an EKG which indicated that I was having a sinus tachychardia attack.  I was also given an IV with some fluids to prevent me from dehydrating.  After several hours I was sent home with a case of "ANXIETY".

I felt very sick.  And my heart tacing has caused quite the stir in me. It was beating rapidly and uncontrollably. I am only 27 years old. Is it possible that I could have a heart attack?  Can "anxiety" cause a heart attack?  I have no history of heart problems.  How long can the heart race before it becomes a sign of concern?

Right now I have been feeling chills and slight dizziness. Dont know if I am just unwinding from a long night or is this somethng to be worried about.

Thank you both for commenting. It is very comforting to know that others have experienced similar situations. The heart racing thing is very frightening and I do not want to feel that way again. I mean I have had heart that beats fast but not like this before. Very scary. I thought that I was going to die.  My BP is normal. And EKG was fine. But I still dont feel good. Is this part of the healing now? I want to be ecstatic about the results yet I am scared that the docs missed something. =(

Well, my raced for 2 days straight one time and my doctors were not concerned.  It really wears a person out.  Takes a whole day to rest afterwards.  It used to happen to me more when I was younger than it does now that I am 44.  You may want to check to see if you are eating enough foods with vitamin B in it.  Vitamin B really helps calm. Calcium also helps.  When my heart races, I take an aspirin just in case to prevent blood clots.  Viruses also can get the heart racing fast.  If you do notice that your heart keeps racing make sure to let your doctor know for you may have an adrenal problem.  Hope you are feeling better soon.  This may not happen again or for a long time again.
