Heart Attack Risk ?

I am 26 years old and no family history of heart conditions. On March 11 I had tightness of my left chest, back and shoulder blade. My heart started to beat out my chest and had this shooting pins and needles feeling moving from my left arm to my brain. Rushed myself to the ER and had blod pressure. EKG, Blood Work, Chest X-Ray, ECG and Stress Test. All show negative towards heart attack and normal. They labled this anxiety although I had no stress in my life. The next week couple of weeks I had heart palpitations. I wore a loop recorder for a week and found nothing. Then the third week after being discharged I felt my body having pins and needles feeling for one week at night only and have muscle tremor and jerks. Mind you after being discharged I quit alcohol and caffeine the cold turkey way. I used to drink heavy once a week for two years. The fifth week I have this major headache for and shortness of breath with dry cough for a couple of days. I had an MRI of the brain. They found a sinus infection in the left ethmoid. I am on antibiotics for that now. The shortness of breath with dry cough still exist up to now. On May 19, I woke up went to the bathroom developed a cold sweat, felt my heart wasn't beating and became short of breath with no chest pain. This lasted about 45 sec. I took my blood pressure, it read 101/59 at the time of the cold sweat. I was scared and didn't go the ER because of no chest pain. I am still alive up to now, shold I go the ER and check to see if there was heart damage or was this a panic/anxiety attack ? Am I at risk for a heart attck ? I have constant chest pains sensative to touch. What's the risk of developing an arrythmia after two months when all the test came back negative ?

You are at very low risk of having a heart attack. Your pain is very unusual for said disease, and you already had a negative stress study. And it sounds as if this may be a manifestation of panic or anxiety disorder. I would speak to you r PCP about this.

Hi  Junebuggau18...

I am a 25/yrold female, I have been suffering the some of the same symptoms since Nov 2008. All of my doctors told my mom first that I was just seeking pain meds, then that I was crazy or would be a cronic pain patient.
My mom is a RN and when I told her about the Angina and where it was coming from she asked the doctor's to do a Heart Cath... The doctors told her they were 99.9% sure that they wouldn't find anything because all of my EKG's, Echocardiograms, CTs, MRIs, and my stress test came back normal.

From Nov '08 to August '09 I was in the hospital 11 times with the same symptoms each time. In August of '09 they finally did the Heart Cath and they found three 75% blockages in my Heart.

In March of 2010 I had a double Angioplasty (no stint) and then in April 2010 I had a Heart Attack and in May 2010 I had a triple open heart bypass... that is a lot of surgeries for someone who was "healthy" according to the doctors and test.

So... the moral of my story is make sure you are making your voice heard to your doctors. I also think that you should switch doctors if you feel like they just keep blowing you off. Ask to be put on an anxiety meds and if the symptoms and attacks don't stop then ask for a Heart Cath because that is the only true way for them to look inside and see if everything is ok.

Good luck and God Bless!

i would say your having panic attacks, blood pressure low but good mine was 95/55 yesterday and iam fine, yes your alive because i belive its stress , now that you had the first attack they will keep coming as long as its in your mind, you need get a hold of them so they dont over take your life. get a good support person to talk to you or hold you when you feel this way. ive been there myself at 23 and 51 now and still here . felt just like you waited to die but i didnt praise the LORD.  hope it gets better for you always someone here to talk to.
