Heart Disease

I've always been pretty healthy.  Over the past few years I have gottne short of breath when walking or doing many activities.   Since I work online, and didn't get much exerise I attributed that to lack of exercise.

A few months ago I joined the gym to get in better shape.   After going 3 or 4 days, and using their treadmill (very slow to my usual walking) one day I got very dizzy and felt weird.  I had to sit down for about 15 minutes and turned beet red.

I went to m doctor for a check up, and she did an EKG and referred me to a heart doctor for a stress test.  I took the first one, that they stopped because they said my blood pressure should be going up andmin went down,   so they had me retake it putting in some radiation to see how things looked

After taking that test, they found some areas they could not tell about so referred me for a heath Cath.   I was totally SHOCKED to learn I had 4 large arteries that were 50% BLOCKED.  I had no other symptoms or anything.

To me it's scary that you could have that happen, and not know it  I have taken vitamins, and antioxidents all my life.   I think it's lucky we found it now.

IF anyone is short of breath, don't assume it's lack of exercise,  I probably should have had that checked years ago.

Bypass or stents aren't normally done until your arteries are 70% blocked, but having 50% blockages is a big wake up. I do believe 50% blockages can cause shortness of breath.  That was my first symptom and my first cath showed 50% blockages in two arteries.  I foolishly rejected the statin drugs, opting for just exercise and a better diet.  I wasn't aggressive enough and went through quite a few heart procedures. Mammo is correct, you should in my opinion exercise daily, take a statin drug that your doctor recommends, but don't take this lightly.  Are you diabetic, and do you have high blood pressure?  I'd also address these issues aggressively.

Stay in touch.

A sedentary lifestyle will do this, causing plaque to quietly build in your arteries.  You have to start today with exercising, and eating the right kinds of food, or the plaque will continue to build until your arteries are totally blocked.
