Keep sugars low, Salt low and eat as much fruit/vegetables that you can. Eat oily fish
such as mackeral, sardines, pilchards as these are high in good omega oils that are
healthy for your arteries. Avoid too much saturated fat which is solid fat. If you can afford it, cook with virgin olive oil. Dairy products are high in protein but also saturated fats, so eat as little of these as possible. Eggs are ok. Nuts are good. If you use milk, use the low fat variety, skimmed/semi-skimmed. Use low fat margarine.
Don't be told you can never eat treats again, such as chocolate, or a cake. These are now a treat rather than a daily feast. If you eat a bar of chocolate twice a week, this is not going to affect your cholesterol.
You can google food for heart patients. There will be links to food to avoid, food that is helpful....but always check with your doctor and have appropriate blood work done before following any of the research suggestions from any source.
You may have comcomitant health issues, an allergy, etc. and your doctor may place certain restrictions based on your over all health.
