Heart Surgery and Psychological Problems

I would like to know if there are any known psychological problems associated with heart surgery.
(I mean after completion of surgery).
Please respond per my email address above.
Dear Daniel
We cannot provide responses to email addresses.
The stress of heart surgery can bring out or worsen underlying psychological disturbances. Also, bypass surgery can cause subtle changes in personality, memory loss, and problems with concentration, in some cases. Of course, surgery can cause more dramatic changes in neurological and psychiatric function by causing a stroke.
I hope this is useful. Feel free to write back. I wish you the best of luck.
If you would like to set up an appointment with one of our cardiologists here at the Cleveland Clinic please feel free to call 1-800-CCF-CARE.
