Heart problems?

Hello, I am a 21 year old male. I have recently felt like something has been wrong with my heart because a couple of months ago I had palpatations and dehydration which really messed up my heart beat for a while. However, since then I've had 3 physical examinations, blood work, an EKG, a heart monitor for a day, a CT scan, a chest x-ray, and also an echo.  I was wondering if all these tests were enough to tell that I was okay because all of them came back negative. The doctor did say I had sinus arrhythmia, but said it was very normal. Do you think I'm overreacting and causing skipping beats and problems cause of anxiety? Do you think I'm healthy, or do you think I need more tests? Also, are all these tests enough to say that I am healthy and nothing is wrong with my heart? Thank you so much

It sounds as if you had an excellent cardiac workup, and everything came back normal.  This is wonderful news!  The tests you had, especially at your age, are very thorough in determining that you are free of heart problems, particularly structural defects that might make an arrhythmia dangerous.

In a structurally normal heart, palpitations will cause no harm, aside from some stress and worry as many of us can attest.  I think many of us with these skips and thumps have shared your concern, wondering if all the testing was adequate and accurate.  But rest easy, it is.

hi,
i began with skipped beats when i was 28, and they came out of absolutely nowhere. i was very freaked out, and i went to the er to find out what was going on. i had all the tests: the ekg's, echo, stress test, bloodwork, etc. and was told that my heart was structurally normal.
it was VERY had to accept that. doubt lingered for a loooong time that it just didn't seem right that i could feel the discomfot of these skipped beats that led to massive anxiety and the feeling of impending doom.
thanks to some counseling and reading through this forum, i'm at last reassured. trust in your doctors. if you haven't consulted an electrophysioloist, i would do that. they're the guys who specialize in arrythmias and it couldn't hurt to be told that you have a structurally normal heart.
take comfort in your doctor's assesment, and try not to worry!
