Ace inhibitors in my experience have been difficult to get balanced. I used to take my beta blocker in the morning with my ace inhibitor, but by mid afternoon, my blood pressure was back up. Doubling my dosage of the ace inhibitor made my pressure too low for the first half of the day, although the evening pressure was fine. Not what I wanted really. So, the dosage was split. I took 2.5mg of ace in the morning, and 2.5 mid afternoon. It took a couple of weeks to settle down, but it worked in the end.
It also depends what beta blocker you take. I was on 1.25mg of Bisoprolol which is a powerful medication. It did nothing for my blood pressure but did take away all angina pain.

Not necessarily, most doctors will have one taken at night and one in he morning, but not always.
