Horrible pain and trouble swallowing after T.E.E, anyone experience this?!

I had a TEE yesterday and ablation.  I feel no chest pain no groin pain, heart feels a little agitated but what bothers me the most is horrible, unbearable pain in my throat that runs up to my ear; I can barely swallow (couldn't even take pills for pain), I can't eat, I can't talk and even drinking warm water is painful. I am desperate, I thought sleeping would make it better but it didn't. I was in tears until 12am, I am desperate and all they can say it was the probe and it will go away. Even moving my head sideways makes it hurt, if I touch my throat it hurts.

Is this normal?! I'm guessing they forced the probe down my throat because I have trouble swallowing even big vitamins (I would sometimes regurgitate on prenatal pills). I'm at my wits' end, anyone go through this? Any advice? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :(

It is good to hear that now at least you can swallow.
When I remember your problems on 27th march, I am not surprised that you still have trouble swallowing. I am sure that in the coming days it will improve.

So, yes after what you experienced a few days ago, it is normal to still have some problems now. They must have irritated your esophagus very much during the TEE.

Hi Jessy,

A sore throat for a day or two after the test happens quite often.
In very rare cases, TEE causes the esophagus to bleed.

Normally it is advised that, if your sore throat gets worse or doesn’t go away after a few days, you call your doctor.

If the pain is so horrible as you are saying, I wouldn't wait so long and let a doctor look at it right away.

I hope you recover soon.
