Hypertension Drug Needed?

I am a healthy and reasonably fit 49-year old non-drinking, non-smoking male (albeit with high cholesterol that is being controlled with Lipitor).

Over the last two weeks, I have been measuring my blood pressure and pulse once or twice per day, recording an average of three readings each time.

Here are my stats, below. Do you think I might be a candidate for hypertension medication?

Thank you.

Thank your your advice. However, I am already following that diet -- and I exercise quite a bit.

With that added information, do you still recommend that I do not need meds?

Thanks!

I think it is time to focus on exercise and a good diet low in salt, fat and cholesterol.  Look up "DASH diet", known to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol quite significantly.  Based on your numbers you don't need any BP meds.
