IMDUR QUESTION

I was admitted into the hospital early this week for ongoing stomach issues which may or may not be related to ongoing stress, anxiety, etc.  I am taking 100 MG of toporol xl, benazapril 10mg, 81mg aspiring, synthroid, and protonix.  While in hospital floor doctor asked if I had any pain anywhere which I had mentioned periodically I get a dull pain in chest, which i feel first on the left side of my back, which my doctor had told me to take Aleve when this occurred due to possible pinched nerve, etc.  The docotor took me off the benazaprile and changed my toporol med to 25 mg and prescribed imdur 30 mg to releive these chest discomfort and help with my GERD?

Short background, i have already seen a cardiologist and have had stress test, stress echo, echocardiogram, king of hearts, blood tests etc. and the only thing they have found was slight right side heart enlargement which may be due to sleep apnea.  I was also found to have benign PVC's which was why i was prescribed the 100mg toporol.

Upon switching to imdur that evening I have felt worse than ever.  Extremely severe migraines, nasuea, vomitting, and it gets worse each day.  I did not take it today and feel much better.  I was never diagnosed with angina and can't figure why they switchted it.  is it safe to switch back to my toporol xl until i see my physician, i cannot keep feeling these side effects as I litterlay cannot eat, sleep, or function.

You should talk to your physician about this.  However, if I were your doctor, I would take you off the imdur and increase your metoprolol back to 100 mg daily or even higher.  It is very safe to switch back to the toprol.  You would have do it in the morning, don't take the imdur when it's due and instead take the toprol.  Again, you can phone your physician with this change and make sure that he or she is ok with that.  There is no reason why they wouldn't be.

I greatly appreciate your response, I had contacted my physician yesterday, but did not hear back as of yet.

Just in brief the discomfort, if it is that even, i feel in my chest is a kind of tingling pins and needles type of discomfort that lasts very briefly often a second or two then goes away, sometimes it tingles into my neck other times doesn't.  its mainly on the left center of my chest.  I have chronic dull pain feeling on the left side of my back most of the time, which has gotten slightly better since I have lost 20 pounds.  I had mentioned this chest situation to my Dr. and my Cardiologist neither seemed concerned or much addressed the issue.  With all the tests that I have had ran over the last month, I would think that if there was an issue other than what they have found it would have been identified.

I also forgot to mention that they also ran a CT scan of my chest and abdomen and that test came back normal as well, would this have identified any issues other than the slight enlargement with my heart?
