IMDUR (isosorbide mononitrate)

I just started taking this Imdur suggested by my cardiologist who suspects a vein is trying to open in the stent i had put in in August of 2020 but the throbbing headaches are really bad from 820 am til 5 pm and I have been on it 8 days. I told the nurse and she said the doctor said it means its working.
How many days do I have to go through these headaches ,that is a common  side effect and  are so bad I can barely move my head, it throbs so bad. He persists to not stop taking because it is working.
