In Stent Restenosis

I just got my cath report from the Cleveland Clinic (faxed). My blockage was due to in stent restenosis of a Cypher stent. I had 2 Cypher (Cordis) stents and 2 Taxus II stents, before receiving my fifth ( 3rd Cypher stent) 2 weeks ago.

My fax paper crinkled up on me and ran out of film after 4 of 7 pages. I do know that the Taxus II stent in my circumflex artery that has been there 2 years this August was "widely patent" or ok.

The last Cypher stent that I had 14 months ago was >80% blocked (restenosis). I think that I am having better luck with the Taxus II stents. They are coated with the cancer drug, paclitaxal. Cypher or Cordis stents are coated with sirolimus.

These are the only two drug eluting stents approved by the FDA for use in the US.

I have been on Plavix, 75 mg since June of 2003. Does anyone take a higher dose of Plavix without problems? I do not take aspirin due to gastro problems (until 2 weeks ago). The CC has convinced me to take Plavix and 325 mg aspirin for a month. Then Plavix and 81 mg of aspirin and Plavix, 75 mg indefinitely.

Is buffered aspirin as good as regular aspirin?

i have a bare metal stent & drug eluting stent, the bare metal stent was put in on 11/09 drug eluting stent was put in on 1/10. i am having bad breathing problem & chest most of the time, it feel like someone or something is press hard on my chest. well i have email & talked to lawyers & they said that if i have not had a blood clog or heart attach they cann't help me. well we should all ban together & try to find a lawyer that would take our case. if a lawyer see that a lot of patients is having the same problems a lawyer or lawyers will take our case. i think that the drug company who made these devices should take the responsibility for putting patients life in danger, i also think the company should had did longer studies on these products. i think that maybe some people might be a little scare but we all have to take charg of our on health. we all know that if we do not take action now no one will,this could be one of our children that we are talking about [now or later] so we should take action now. to all that is having problems with any kind of medical devices. thank you.

Thanks so much for the aspirin advice:) I do take it with food. Years ago, I abused NSAIDS (along with some other drugs, lol) and I developed ulcers in my small intestines and stomach. They are supposed to be cured, but I still get the ulcer pain when I take an aspirin, but not so bad of late...

Boston Scientific DID, but J&J (cordis) bought a division of Boston Scientific that made the Taxus stent, with the promise they would let this new company compete with Cypher or Cordis w/o interference.....Oh yeah like we believe that, ha ha ha :)
