LVEDD

I have a leaking mitral valve following a gunshot wound asa child.
My LVEDD is now 59mm - i.e enlarged. What is the normal LVEDD range for an average adult? What are the potential sequelae of this measurement?

Many thanks

Left Ventricle End Diastolic Dimension is expected to be in the 3.5 to 5.7 cm (57mm).

LVEDD indicates the heart's filling capacity of the LV impaired.  The cause is the inability for the LV to relax and there may be a crowding out affect by enlarged and rigid heart wall muscle.  The diminished filling reduces the cardiac output.  Can eventually cause heart failure if not properly treated..Worst case scenario
