The danger with UNCONTROLLED  hypertension is an increase in systemic vascular resistance (systole pressure) increases left atrial pressure relative to right atrial pressure, resulting in a left-to-right shunt depending on size of aneurysm ; and a decrease in systemic vascular resistance (vasogenic shock) decreases left atrial pressure relative to right atrial pressure, resulting in a right-to-left shunt.
