Life Expectancy for Aortic Dissection?

This question has yet to be answered.  There aren't many mentions out there about this serious and fatal disease.  There are some vague suggestions but no real concrete statistics or evidence in people who have it in the young.  I just wanted to know how long one can live after they survive this devastating problem.

I wonder why they say only 10 years?  Does this mean the person won't survive longer than 10 years without resurgery?  What happens after 10 years? Does something else happen inside the heart?

Depending on the nature and extent of the dissection, death can occur within a few hours of the start of a dissection. Approximately 75% of untreated people die within two weeks of the start of a dissection. Of those who are treated, 40% survive more than 10 years. Patients are usually given long term treatment with drugs to reduce their blood pressure, even if they have had surgery.

Concomitant conditons such as hig blood pressure, CAD, age, etc. have to be considered.
