Linked angina and diltiasm

Hi, I have linked angina and was prescribed diltiasm 60mgs twice a day, last Nov which has been wonderful for 7 months.  Two weeks ago I started getting "withdrawal" type symptoms and my doctor put me on 90mgs twice a day.
1. Why has this happened?
2. The new dosage is causing me strange symptoms - will this go? I have them fortaken two days.

I am unclear as to what you mean by "linked angina." However, if you are referring to coronary vasospasm, then diltiazem is usually one of the medications that is used to treat this. Tolerance to any medication is always a possibility after prolonged use -- which may have been the case in your situation. If you are having new symptoms on the higher dose of medication, you should speak to your prescribing physician to make sure the appropriate tests/evaluations can be done.

Thank you for your reply.  Linked angina is the spasm of the coronary artery and the oesophagus, each affecting the other. I will contact my doctor tomorrow, thanks.
