Lipid Panel bad results??

I just received my results to my fasting lipid profile, I'm not to happy with it. I have been on a plant based diet for about a month also avoiding most oils and nos soft drinks of any kind. Also I take 1200 mgs of fish oil daily. I had high Triglyceride and low HDL reading a few years back when I was tested. At that point they said I had a fatty liver also. The test results now are;

Total Cholesterol         153
Triglycerides               258
HDL                             28
LDL                             73
Chol to HDL ratio         5.5
LDL HDL ratio             2.61
VLDL                           52

So I thought for sure eating plant based and exercise would help get these in line but apparently not. What can I do to lower the triglycerides and raise the HDL? I also have MVP if it matters. Oh and my ALT for my liver function a few years ago was like 91 which was due to the fatty liver now it IS 49 so it looks like the liver might be getting better, so what would still be causing the others to be out of whack. I am really concerned. Also I don't eat sugar anymore other than what is in soy milk or in fruit. I don't eat any kind of meat and I exercise 30 mins a day cardio.

Thanks

Is there any family history of cholesterol problems. Your LDL is fine but yes your HDL is considerably low. Aside from fish oil- and eating certain kinds of fish such as salmon will also help raise your HDL. The only other thing I know of is having a glass of red wine everyday but if you've had abnormal liver counts, that might not be the best choice. I would discuss these results with your doctor and explain your concerns

Exericse is the best way to increase your HDL and lower your TG's.  The fish oil is also very helpful.  If those don't work, either niacin which may be difficult to tolerate of a medication such as Tricor may help put those back in order.

No no history of cholesterol problems, I have been eating totally healthy and have had just about zero bad stuff. Very frustrating for sure. I will keep eating and excercising, how long before I should have a follow up lipid panel to see if I am getting anywhere?
