"Moderate" Mitral Regurgitation

I recently had a stress echo done. These were the results:

1.) Normal stress echocardiogram with normal hyperdynamic LV response to stress.
2.) Normal LV chamber size and systolic function with an EF estimated at 55-60%
3.) There is moderate mitral and tricuspid regurgitation (2+). Pulmonary artery systolic pressure is within normal range.
4.) There is normal antegrade flow across all cardiac valves.
5.) Resting BP was 118/72; peak blood pressure was 158/76.

He did not seem concerned with the regurgitation and said I did not need antibiotics. However, from what I understand, 2+ means valve repair is necessary?

Many individuals have MVP, and it doesn't progress.  Probably want to periodically check it out.

No infection. I think it is prolapse.

Has the underlying cause for the valve disorder been discussed?  Has there been an infection?  Is the problem congenital?  Is the disorder mitral valve prolapse?.

I have had moderate to severe MVR for more than 5 years and no symptoms that are related to valve insufficiency....valve repair or replace isn't necessary based on 2+ if there isn't any physiological pathology such as an increase in left ventricle dimension, atria enlargement, increased pressures, etc.

For many years antibiotics were recommended for some dental procedures, but about a year ago AAC/AHA no longer take that position, however, there are some dentists that may insist on antibiotics before doing a procedure..
