Odds of a 22 year old developing heart issues?

Hi there.

I have a 22 year old male. Non smoker, non drinker, never have used any drugs. Never have done any of the three actually. I am about 5 foot 11 inches tall and about 135-140. So I am slim. I have no family history of heart issues, and no birth defects of any kind. I have Anxiety, and Panic attack issues. I am just wondering what my odds would be of developing a heart issue at this age, with the information I just provided. I sometimes have a rapid heart beat, sweaty palms, and almost like a choking sensation. I can't stop thinking that it is some sort of heart issue. I keep being told that if anything major were to happen to me, it would just happen. I never experience any abnormal chest pain, or anything like that. (The symptoms I described above only really happen if I am out in a large crowd, or something along those lines ) Please contact me with any help you may have.

Thanks!

wow i didnt know you are a doctor, it is always "FIT"  as you say to have your heart checked no matter what your symptoms..but what i said was i was sure he had anxiety, but everyone needs to have their heart checked. i was diagnosed with anxiety 3 times before i was diagnosed with heart disease because my symptoms were so similar.i knew it was not anxiety.i would start sweating and my heart rate would shoot up mostly when i was out and around people and was diagnosed with tachycardia but after echo they saw i had cardiomyopathy. also anxiety and long periods of high heart rate can lead to heart disease.i just dont want anyone else to go as long as it took me to go to doctor because if it was diagnosed earlier instead of docs thinking it was anxiety because i was too young then i would  not been as bad off as i am.

Well of course young people can have heart problems, BUT what he described has nothing to do with his heart  so when you , as you said “trying to raise awareness “ read the post twice and raise it when it is fit ,but sure you can say whatever wherever you want.

Anxiety IS WHAT IT IS. Certainly you can learn how to gain control over by self-discipline as I just told that to the original poster.
Heart disease is different, you cannot compare the two.

it sounds like anxiety, most people think that anxiety is not as serious as it is. it can make you feel like you are dying at times as well as mentally.its the worst feeling and i'm hoping that's whats wrong with you based on all of your symptoms .But i am also trying to raise awareness to young people that just because you are young that u can suffer from heart issues.i was diagnosed with heart disease last year in my 20's. i exercise, dont smoke, drink or do drugs and am also fit.it floored me. you do not have to be old or have a family history to have heart issues. mine came from a virus at the age of 18. i am not trying to worry you i just want people to know that it can happen to young healthy people. but with that being said i am almost positive its anxiety but have it checked just in case.if you cant afford it search for free clinics in your area. and if your heart is fine all the anxiety you have can do a number on your heart and over all health so just try and see whats going on.hope u feel better.

You have rapid heartbeat because you are young and alive. Stop thinking on that if you developing heart issue with age. It is like you would wonder: what if you will be hit by a car.
Sometimes we get   overly excited, (all people) in a good or bad way, so we have faster heartbeat. That is perfectly normal. We and doctors also use the panic (disorder) words …on something that normal and can, could, should learn how to gain control over by self-discipline.

You are a healthy young person be happy and busy with your happiness!
