PSVT / COPD and Advair

I have been given Advair to take for my copd, but one side effect is fast and irregular heart beat, chest pain and increased BP----I take Metoprolol succ er for my PSVT---
-Will the Advair Diskus work against my metoprolol meds?
I am alllergic to Penasylin, tetrocycoline, decadron, dyphahidromine, and benedril.
My other meds I take are: zolof, welbrutrin, seroquel xr, gabapentine, tizanidine hcl and pravastatin sodium----will there be any adverse reactions to any of these meds?

Hi,
I urge you to talk to your doctor about maybe changing your Advair. It is a drug that has a "black box" warning. Studies are being done on this drug (google and you will find lots of info) to show that there are risks that might outweigh the benefits. There are several other medications for asthma that work well. Our EP says he would never recommend Advair to any of his patients.
My son has severe asthma and uses a separate steroid inhaler (Flovent) and uses his ventolin inhaler for emergencies.
Take care,

As I read in the wikipedia Bupropion (welbrutin) may produce high BP and it is supposed to be used carefully with heart patients.

I suggest to read the entry on Advert in RXLIST since it also can increase BP in addition of other issues that may be relevant to you.

Is your cardiologist aware of all your medication?

Advair has 2 medications in it. Most likely it's the salmeterol that could trigger some quick heart beats since the other med is a steroid. I use albuterol for my asthma and it does cause my heart to beat more quickly for about 10 minutes. Then it eases off but it's quite normal for that particular medication.

As for interactions, when you got your Advair, didn't the pharmacist go over the instructions and potential problems with you? And they usually ask what other meds you're taking. The best person to answer questions about drug interactions would be the pharmacist.
