PVC and vertigo- inner ear problem?

Hi Everyone-I was seeing my doctor about lots of PVCs and PACs- but had yet to be diagnosed by a cardiologist.  I was nervous about it all and this increased when I began to have occasional mild dizzy spells accompanied by lots of PVCs.  One night I sat down to dinner and felt really weird- nauseous and dizzy- I lay down on on the sofa and then had some really big PVCs and felt hot - red in the face and all tingly- and scared.  I ended up spending that night in the hospital with palpitations all night, but only PVC and PAC.  When I went home the next day, I was really tired and felt weak.  The next two days I spent in bed- I never spend days in bed- but every time I got up, I felt weak and dizzy.  I went back to my general doc because the dizzy spells were getting worse and they did another ECG and it was normal. I decided maybe it could be an inner ear infection - I got some medicine for this (doc agreed) and was totally not convinced it wasn't my heart.  But this medication worked and I felt better.  Still I went to a cardiologist to make sure it was really my ears- after a week of feeling awful- I got sore head/ears/face that might suggest an ear infection.  The cardio checked me out and he agreed.  I was soooooo releived.  I really think that the dizzy spells made me nervous and that this brought on the PVCs and I had thought those were linked, but they aren't.  Now, after about 2 weeks, I feel like myself again- PVC down to low level and no more dizziness.  I wanted to share because many of you have mentioned dizziness or vertigo too.

Thanks for the comments guys- I am glad I did post this because it was so freaky and it had me scared to death for awhile!  This forum is fantastic and when I was really scared I used to just come here and read the posts- it helped just to know so may people were experiencing similar things and having the strength to deal with it!  I have had PVC off and on my whole life, but never as bad as in the last couple of months and I guess it was either hormonal (I came off the pill) or this virus that agve me the ear infection.  But hey, it's back to aerobics class now and to life!  Good luck to all of you and keep bugging your docs for answers about these things- don't let 'em rest till you get some answers...

I'm currently having that now. I had bronchitis 2 weeks ago and took Zithromax. I wonder if the bronchitis (even though I feel 100% better from that), can cause the vertigo and shortness of breath?

Your story is interesting........back in the mid 80's I had a very bad case of vertigo that gave me a huge scare from the family history I have with anyurisms that the doctor who saw me in the emergency room told me it might be a problem....

I was out of town at the time............however, when I got back to my family doctor at home to get it checked on he smiled and told me "weren't you here about 2 weeks ago with the flu?".........when I answered yes to him he laughed and said people my age were getting an inner ear infection as a result of this strain.......he gave me some antibotics and it cleared the whole thing up in a week or two.........haven't had it since, but some of my fib medication gives me similar feeling like that.....

Agreed. When I got vertigo a doctor friend told me it was likely labyrinthitis. I never got the palps with it.
I went straight to the ENT.
ENT said BPPV and did maneuvers, collar and I tried a course of meds but I stayed dizzy for 16 months. All day, everyday, just had to move my head up or down or to the side LOL it was maddening. It lasted so long other docs got involved and I found out I had carpal tunnel, MVP and tachycardia LOL. In other words I was just fine and just dizzy.
It resolved on its own all of a sudden. Otoconia? infection? Never will know.
Just glad it's gone. LOL

any kind of sickness opens you up to other secondary infections.. Its very common for people overcoming a cold or flu to get fluid in their inner ear

Great story!! Alot of people get vertigo and freak out, and its usually something silly and simple, non cardiac related, but they get so upset, they give themselves more palps, its a vicious cycle! Good for you for having the strength to break it.
