Dear Dale,
This is not related to your TPA, but rather to your underlying disease process. Many of the risk factors for heart disease and coronary atherosclerosis are similar to those for carotid and cerebrovascular disease. the plaques that form and buildup in your heart and cause a heart attack also may form in the large arteries to your brain or even in the smaller vessels to your brain. The best course of action is to control your blood pressure, cholesterol and take whatever antiplatelet or anticoagulant that may be recommended. And if you smoke, please stop.
Thanks for the answer about the TPA involvement. Nice to know that the drug that may have saved my life did just that and no more. As for the recent TIA, that caught me off guard, since my heart attack on OCT 7th I have been slow and cautious getting back to normal activities. I did return to semi strenuos activities around the house the week before the occurrence and the day of the TIA I was on the roof cleaning gutters. Could this activity carrying ladders and such have caused the TIA? What is the likelyhood of it occurring again? Its tough living looking over ones shoulder so to speak with illness. for the record I do not have high blood pressure but they do have me on lopressor, a asprin a day and zocor to control my ldl. Oh and stopped smoking 16 yrs ago.
sorry for rambling.
DEar Dale,
It is unlikely that this exercise caused the stroke. Keep all your risks controlled as you are doing.
Best of luck.
