Pounding ears and head

I am a 57 year old female.  Occasionally, I will have pounding in my head and ears.  It is not painful but annoying. Once  in awhile I will have heart palpitations.  Not often.  I feel very good but am overweight.  Can you tell me the possibilities of what this might be?

Hey this same thing will happen to me occasionally and I also am 57 yrs old female. I have what they diagnosed Bradycardia and sometimes my pulse rate will go way down to the low 40s. I feel light headed and dizzy when this happens. I have an appt. with a cardiologist next month. Do your jaws hurt too? Sometimes my head, jaws, and ears pound!!!! Yes it is very annoying

You have palpitations which usually due to extra heart beats.  They are typically benign and usually don't cause any problems.  In patients with any previous cardiac history they may need to be worked up with an EKG, echocardiogram and a Holter monitor.
