Pulses cause body to move

About four months ago, I'd be sitting or lying, and feel as though a train/truck were driving past, ie the room felt as though it were vibrating. I began to realise it wasn't the room vibrating, but rather it was me. When I hold objects in my hand they vibrate. When sitting, my hair bobs back and forth. And so on, all in time with my pulse. It's not that I've "become aware of my pulse internally", as many people seem to suggest - first, I'm not "aware of my pulse internally"; second, I'm used to holding test tubes full of liquid (and I have a hair pulling habit!), so I'd have noticed liquid moving/hair bobbing. I associate onset of these symptoms with an episode of severe vomiting (possibly food poisoning), which gave me cramps in my abdominal muscles, but obviously I can't be certain about the correlation.

Does anyone have an explanation for this type of pulse? I have a rudimentary knowledge of cardiac physiology, but can't rationalise this symptom.

Thanks for your post. What you say is absolutely reasonable - but I'm no fitter now than I was before :-).

well, how about it being due simply to a very strong heart beat...

if the arteries dilate and give way to receive the flow of extra volume, then there's no reason that BP would have to also be high - though if due to adrenalin then you'd expect HR and BP to be elevated at the same time. OTOH, outside of hormonal influence, you'd expect the stroke volume to be inverse to the Heart Rate - e.g. a well-conditioned person would have a low HR with a low BP but a high stroke volume with every beat.

As far as poisoning, it'd seem natural for the system to go into high gear to remove the poison - but 4 months would sure be a long time for that, unless it created some semi-permanent change in you somehow.
