hi, I'm really happy to find this site, where people can exchange opinions but also get professional advice. This is my storyline and I'll be very hreatful for any comments or advice.
I'm 33 year old man with good general health and healthy, active life style.however about 4 years ago suddenly my heart started to beat irregularely. generally it was beating completely random which was quite strange and worying.
Everything started at night, I had a bad dream (I use to have them sometimes) my heart was beating very fast when I woke up in the middle of night, and after few minutes it calmed down but to this irregular beating. After a few days I went to my doctor, then to hospital for checks. heart was diagnosed as its without any underlying problems, I was told I have atrial fibrillation. They recommended cardioversion.I was 8 weeks on warfarin to prevent stroke and then I came back to the hospital for the procedure. It was successful, I felt great to have my old heart back. However, after a year and a half tje story repeated: bad nightmare, fast heart and back to irregular beat. so I went to the doctor, another 8 weeks on warfarine, cardioversion and normal rythym was back. as you can predict, it again lasted about a year and last week I had again bad dream, woken up with really fast hear beat and then my irregular beating was back. So looks as I have another 8  weeks on warfarin in front of me (with weekly taken samples of blood to control the dose) and cardioversion. It seams as a solution but Im not sure, if I can keep having cardioversion every year. Last time the doctor suggested that maybe I can take some medicine, instead cardioversion - but it can have some side effect - I wasn't exactly explained what it could be, and it sounded risky so I chosen cardioversion.
I'm really not sure what to do as this keeps coming back (doctors seams also bit puzzled if there is pemanent sollution) Perhaps I should also trying to prevent having these nightmares (somehow) as this always triggers this problem (can very stressful situation trigger atrial fibrilation?)

It is known or generally accepted that stress will cause irregular heartbeats. In stressful situations, the body releases adrenaline, a hormone that causes an increase in heart rate...and adrenaline can interfere with the electrical system of the heart. This can be a problem for someone with atrial filbrillation (AFib), a condition in which the heart's electrical system is already vulnerable,

Thanks for your question, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond. Take care.
