Sharp Pains In Heart

I am a 20 year old female who has been in top shape up until this point so I am very confused about this.

A few days ago, I noticed a sharp pain when I would press on the area where the left side of my rib cage met the big bone that goes down the center (Sorry for the lack of terminology).

Some days before that, I would get a very sharp pain in my chest at the end of a deep inhalation and it would cause me to cut the breath short.  The pain where my ribs are occurs also when I'm not pressing on it such as when I'm leaning over the keyboard now or driving.  It isn't constant, it's just a couple subtle jabs here and there.

The pain is more dull than the sharp pain I experienced during breathing, but it is just as strong if that makes any sense.  The area that hurts feels like a very long sharp bone but the way my fingers make it out, it seems to lie perpendicular to my ribs which is very awkward and I don't know how that's possible.

I have also felt like my head was being blown up like a balloon.  I didn't have a headache, but my whole skull and face felt like they were being stretched.

I am to go to a chiropractor soon but until then, I am incredibly worried.  Please help!

Hi, I appreciate your response.  I already went to a cardiologist who is also my regular doctor and he told me the sharp pains were nothing to be concerned about, the rib had probably just slipped out of place and soon would be okay, and he also performed an EKG and it was completely normal.  Unfortunately, the pain gets worse and worse every day and I also get more pain in other areas so his diagnosis is really frustrating to me..  I searched the internet a lot and I found that chiropractors deal with a situation like this where the rib slips out of place and it can mimic the symptoms of a heart attack.  My appointment is soon so if he can't fix it, I'll be hot on the track to another cardiologist.  Thanks again for your reply!

I'm not to sure how much the chiropractor will help, but you should def. see at least your family dr. and probably a cardiologist. Take it from someone who had a blockage at 38 (have been in great shape my whole life). better to be safe than sorrry.
Best of luck
