drug interaction tachycardia

I had SEVEN HOURS of tachycardia, at rest in bed, with pulse  from 120 to 100. Then six hours more until it dropped to the 60's where it is usually maintained by Carvedilol. BP ranged from 147/71 88 to 130/66 93 to normal125/64 65.
I had taken Tamsulosinan 0,4mg, for the  first time, hoping to control 2 or 3 visits to pee. Four hours later I took Dormicum 7.5 (midazolam) unaware that it reacts with the other to cause tachy. i took it because I was so gripped I could not breath through the nose. and thought it would allow me o sleep mouth open. My question please:  I'm 84 with stable CAD, one stent. Will this long and fierce tachy have damaged my heart?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello there,

It is certainly hard to give you an accurate assessment of the situation without reviewing your entire clinical history and knowing the kind of tachycardia you had but I can give you some general pointers.

The most likely answer to your question is NO. Six hours of tachycardia in the range of 100-120 is not sufficient to cause damage to your heart muscle in any way. You might have heard that long standing high heart rates may reduce the function of the heart but that generally needs to be persistent for weeks before it would cause problems.
At the same time, I am assuming that the tachycardia episode that you had was benign and not a dangerous heart rhythm. If you have this again, I would certainly recommend that you contact your cardiologist to have this definitively evaluated.
Hope that helps.
