I want ed64 to answer my questions in the future....
extremely unlikely because you only had a radioactive isotope injected which adheres itself to the red blood cells.
Resently had a nuclear stress test with iV, an now have a heart murmer that never had before the test, could the nuclear have caused the problem. I am 80 an had a mitral valve clip installed 7 years ago an has been fine up till now.
A resting stress test? Do you mean they induced stress using drugs rather than a treadmill? The scan obviously gives indications of a blockage forming, probably the bottom part of the left anterior descending vessel which is a common area. If you are 64 and have high cholesterol, then this is pretty good going. I lost count how many Angiograms I've had after the 8th one. I've never had a problem and the risk is very low. It really is worth the test to establish the severity of this blockage and to see what options are available. If they believe they can stent it, I would ask they do it in the same procedure, or it means you will have to go through the procedure a second time. The only things you feel during the procedure are 1. the anaesthetic being injected which is like a sharp scratch. 2. you get hot flushes through your body as they inject the contrast dye into different vessels. I found the hardest thing with an Angiogram was drinking a cup of tea while laying down after the procedure.
Words like normal and small should give you great comfort, in my opinion, and a 70% ejection fraction is fantastic. I'm not a health professional, and the Cath test is absolutely the gold standard test, but certainly the stress test was normal.
That said, Heart Caths are very safe. If you need one in the future, it shouldn't be feared in my opinion. I've had at least a dozen, and the only problem I've had is with some bruising.
Hope that helps.
