Troponin - Cholesterol Questions

Posted inquiry couple weeks ago from ER visit, just a quick follow up..

First, my glucose (nonfasting) measured in ER was 140...But did a fasting panel last week (complete metabolic, etc.) the fasting glucose came back at 72, which is about range my fasting # has been last decade..

1. In the ER, on the blood work noticed something called Troponin, is that an eznyme they look at to determine if heart problem occured?,,,My number was <0.04

2. And my lastest blood work just done last week (post ER visit) was:
Total Cholesterol - 130
LDL- 81
Trigelceridies - 86
HDL - 32

This seems to be the ongoing issue, all numbers ok but HDL which usually falls in 32-37 range..Do cardiologists have agreement on which number is most important, or is that one of those things where the debate rages on?

Thanks

Is that Troponin test related to the cardio CRP test?...I know the latter measures non-specific inflamation, but wasn't sure if they are similar...My CRP tests over the years have been less than 1...

1.  Yes, yours is normal, indicating no evidence of heart damage.
2.  that's a good profile.  The only thing you might want to strive to increase is your HDL, but given how low your overall cholesterol is, there is very little room to improve it.  We like it to be greater than 40.  Again, because your total is so low, there really isn't any room to improve here.  HDL can be elevated with exercise.

LDL by far is the most important particle and yours is right where you want it.
