Unsure about my breathing problems

Since a couple of months back, i noticed asignificant difference with myself. sometimes i had difficulties in breathing, especially during the night or when its cold. sometimes out of the blue i will start coughing. its going on like this. i went to see a doctor and she said there's nothing wrong with my lungs. i've gained weight recently, from 48 to 55kg. is it simply because my body is out of shape, or something is wrong with me? i'm too embarassed to see another doctor, because i'm scared to make a big deal out of nothing. please help.

What kinds of tests have you had done? Just a quick listen with a stethoscope won't tell the doctor much. Do you have allergies? It reminds me of my asthma. Cold air will cause me to cough a lot. Right now my lungs tighten up at night (I'm getting over a cold) and I'm short of breath in the mornings and cough a lot. My peak flow ( a measurement of my breathing) is down and I have to use my meds.

And 55kg/121 lbs isn't that heavy at all unless you're under 5 feet tall. Sudden onset of breathing problems is usually caused by something more than being out of shape. You might want to get another opinion.
